I'm recently a downloader of bootleg concerts. When the agoraphobia acts up I imagine myself at a show, in the recent or distant past, causing the inner tremors to subside. One of the sites I frequent distinguishes between piracy and bootlegging via a Wikipedia article:
Bootlegging is often incorrectly referred to as piracy but there are important differences between the two terms. Non-profit bootlegging is trafficking in recordings that the record companies have not commercially released, whereas piracy is the illegal copying/sale of recordings that are available commercially.
That suits me fine. I'm happy, therefore, to suggest the following websites to anyone who enjoy the spontaneous, exciting sound of concerts of your favorite artists:
http://vivalesbootlegs.blogspot.com/
http://gratefulbreed.blogspot.com/
http://musictravellerstwo.blogspot.com/
http://theultimatebootlegexperience3.blogspot.com/
I recommend you visit, download a show or two, make a donation, and leave a comment. And naturally, if anyone in the blogosphere prefers that I not mention their site, or not advocate sharing music which is not commercially released, or even just wants me to change subjects, just let me know. I'm open to suggestion. As Groucho said, "Those are my principles. If you don't like them I have others."

I never imagined bootlegs as a cure for agoraphobia. That's incrediblly constructive and optimistical. I tip my hat to you, mate :)
ReplyDeleteI must share this tip with a friend who sometimes has the same nagging issue!
